The ars●bit, a cross-disciplinary creator support project, will present “Anima Ludens,” an exhibition serving as the culmination of the project, at the “Festival Octobre Numérique”—an annual arts festival held in Arles, France, that focuses on cutting-edge technology, art, and culture.
Ahead of the exhibition in Arles, 404 Not Found in Shibuya, Tokyo, will present an exhibition of photographic and video works by Pascal Greco, who participated in the 2025 edition of Festival Octobre Numérique. The related program will also include a talk featuring Greco and emerging artists and creators supported through the ars●bit project.
Greco has photographed not only landscapes in the physical world but also virtual landscapes found within video games. His work challenges the boundary between the real and the virtual, questioning how digital environments are transforming our perceptions of landscape and reality.
Focusing primarily on Greco’s in-game photography, the exhibition considers new forms of landscape and reality in an age of “mixed reality,” in which physical and virtual spaces increasingly intersect. It also explores how we might engage with an emerging form of nature—a “digital nature” shaped by video games, rapidly evolving artificial intelligence, and other digital technologies.
On the evening of Friday, September 25, Pascal Greco will join emerging artists and creators from the ars●bit project for a special talk event.

A talk event featuring Pascal Greco, an artist who exhibited at the 2025 “Festival Octobre Numérique,” and this year’s participating artists—The White Anteroom team. In this event, the two will delve into “Anima Ludens (Playful Life)—” the main theme of this year’s “Octobre Numérique”—from their respective perspectives. Drawing on Pascal Greco’s work, which has taken both physical and virtual spaces as its subject, and White Anteroom’s approach, in which viewer interventions blend into the virtual space, they will explore the emerging new nature and the kind of relationship we can build with it.
■Pascal Greco
Pascal Greco is a self-taught Swiss-Italian artist working across film, cinematography, editing, art direction, and photography. His filmography includes more than a dozen works.
In 2018, Greco and Philippe Pellaud co-directed Shadow, a magnetic and hypnotic film starring Asia Argento and Anna-Lou Castoldi. Presented at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes and the Geneva International Film Festival, it received wide media attention and has been freely available on Vimeo since 2022. His other films include the contemplative trilogy Super 8 (2008), Nowhere (2013), and Stun (2015), as well as SOMNIA (2023), commissioned by the Museum of Art and History Geneva. A companion film, INSOMNIA, will be released in 2026 through a QR code included with its vinyl soundtrack by Goodbye Ivan.
Greco’s photographic practice investigates the relationship between architecture, landscape, and constructed reality. He has published ten photographic works, including Kyoshu, nostalgie du pays (2007), documenting everyday life in Japan; Seoul Shanghai Tokyo (2010); No Cliché (2013); and two major studies of Hong Kong—Hong Kong: Perspectives, Prospectives, Typologies (2018) and Hong Kong Neon (2021).
With Place(s) (2021) and Photography, Video Game, Landscape (2025), Greco entered the emerging field of post-photography through in-game photography. Focusing on natural-looking virtual landscapes, his images challenge perceptions of reality and explore how digital environments shape contemporary visual culture. His recent publications also include Kwai Shing West Estate (2024), about a Hong Kong residential complex housing approximately 18,000 people, while Tokyo Flash is scheduled for publication in 2026.
His work has been featured by international media including The Guardian, Le Monde, CNN, Vice, Libération, Télérama, Creative Review, Blind Magazine, Polka, and Fisheye Magazine.
Greco has presented solo exhibitions at institutions and galleries including the Swiss Museum of Games, Musée Alexis Forel, Espace Abstract, and Guillaume Daeppen Galerie. His work has also appeared in group exhibitions and festivals such as Octobre Numérique in Arles, Photo Elysée, GIFF, Milan Machinima Festival, Mapping Festival, and the Solothurn Film Festival. At the Centre de la Photographie Genève, he presented a live in-game photography performance accompanied by an exhibition.
Beyond his artistic practice, Greco mentors marginalized young people and helps them acquire professional filmmaking skills. In 2020, he co-founded the ELAN collective with director Radhia Chapot-Habbes. The collective develops artistic projects with migrants, refugees, people with disabilities, individuals experiencing addiction, and older adults, creating opportunities for isolated and vulnerable people to express their own voices through film and theatre.
